Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of People and Planning, the Data and Information Manager is responsible for oversight and integration of BGC data information systems, collection, and reporting. The Data and Information Manager will lead the development and cultivation of systems, policy, practice, and reporting approaches to elevate BGC’s effectiveness, efficiency, and potential by optimizing use of tools/technology, to streamline consistent processes and make data-informed decisions.

The Data and Information Manager will work cross-functionally with Leaders across BGC, BGC’s IT services, and external IT consultants, to support and ensure programs and staff consistently approach data information tools and technology to enhance, BGC’s vision, mission, values, and strategic framework, goals, and annual plans.

Job Duties

  • Leads Data and Information Systems (including completion of BGC 2023 Data and Information Transformation Project plans) in support of Strategic Framework and Annual Plans.
  • Participates in conversations with Leaders about BGC’s reporting obligations across the organization to funders, stakeholders, regulatory bodies etc., and provides recommendations on how BGC can integrate data and information into those functions.
  • Advises Leadership on the role of data and information in strategy and decision making, including the creation of new reports with current tools/systems.
  • Leads and facilitates power automation of workflows and digital first operations across BGC, based on organizational priorities, plans and commitments.
  • Creates standardized approaches to capture BGC program data including numbers served, populations, demographics, frequency, intensity, and duration – for internal and external audiences (including reporting requirements to BGC Canada, Annual/Stewardship Reports, including to funders and regulatory bodies).
  • Supports outcome measurement work across BGC with Learning & Impact Project approach to data.
  • Monitors BGC systems access, permissions, and policy related to Data and Information Transformation Work, with BGC’s IT Consultant Team.
  • Builds and manages data use practices at BGC.
  • Creates and manages data reports and visualizations that help bridge tools required for reporting across BGC (Power BI or SharePoint).

Requirements

  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).
  • University degree, college diploma, or equivalent relevant training. Specialized degree an asset.
  • Minimum one year experience with project management / systems and information technology.
  • Strong IT background and experience using various platforms (i.e.. Donor Management Software, SharePoint, Membership/Registration systems, Power BI, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience providing intentional work in Data and Information and Report Generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to support change for systems and people.
  • Ability to work as part of team to create solutions that support organizational objectives.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Self-starter and ability to bring projects to completion.

This is a full-time (37.5 hrs./week) salary position ($62,441 to start), with group benefits at six months, pension after one year, three weeks paid vacation leave in first year, paid sick and personal leave, paid birthday off and up to 5 days statutory holiday substitution days per year to celebrate/recognize religious, cultural, and/or personal days that are important to the employee where those days are not currently recognized as statutory holidays in BC/Canada).
