Summary of Responsibilities
The Resource Advisor coordinates aspects of the WorkBC Delta Resource Centre including assisting clients in their job search process, coordinating, and facilitating workshops, and maintaining an up-to-date job board to meet client needs.
- Understands the WorkBC program service policies, contractual obligations, and role the Resource Advisor plays in achieving the contract goals.
- Opens and closes the resource room.
- Maintains and keeps up to date resource materials that assists clients (e.g. labour market information, job boards, subscriptions, books, web links, etc)
- Assists clients in use of computers, photocopiers, phones, and other equipment.
- Assists self-service clients in the Resource Centre (e.g. assists with navigation, access to online assessments, provides job search support, refers to community services as appropriate)
- Oversees client computer use in the resource room
- Prepares reports on Resource Centre usage and activities
- Receives client preliminary needs assessment and directs clients to appropriate next steps
- Assists with recruitment events and conducts pre-employment workshops.
- Arranges appointments and provides individualized support with clients who are employed but require further support as required.
- Provides ongoing attempts to maintain close contact with the clients through calling, texting, emailing.
- Verifies all self-serve client outcomes to ensure data quality and compliance standards are met within the guidelines of WorkBC.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of the labour market.
- Accurately maintains relevant ICM systems, procedures, and individual caseload trackers.
- Ensures individual and WorkBC Key Performance Measures are consistently achieved.
- Facilitate workshops on resource skills as required.
- Other duties as required.
- Clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- A post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in a relevant field (e.g. career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, human services, counselling, education, or human resources management) with related experience in employment programs.
- Ability to meet key performance measures and objectives while providing a client centered quality service
- Good knowledge of existing programs, services, community resources and local labour market conditions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, possessing patience, tact, flexibility, and ability to build rapport with clients
- Excellent time management and organizational skills (ability to multitask)
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to work some Saturdays and evenings, and in North Delta and Ladner locations
- A Certified Career Development Practitioner designation is desirable
- Working knowledge of Work BC Integrated Case Management Tool and Employment Programs of BC policies and procedures is beneficial.
This is a temporary full time (35 hours per week) position.
