BGC’s Raise the Grade program provides a safe space for homework support, tutoring, mentoring and socializing with friends.
The program is located in a tech space designed for students to be supported academically through tutoring and mentoring.
-
Homework help
We have tutors in various subject areas and levels that are available for youth that are needing help with their schoolwork.
-
Mentors
Each Raise the Grade member is paired with a mentor, with who they regularly check-in with. They discuss school and marks, social or relationship issues, hobbies, and mutual interests, as well as answer questions about post-secondary education and adulthood.
-
Dinner
Provided regularly every evening.
-
Use of Facilities
Youth wanting a safe place to spend time with friends are welcome to hang out.
-
Eligibility for Scholarships
Raise the Grade and our partners have several yearly scholarships they give away. Eligibility is generally based on involvement in Club life as well as service hours.
-
Lead Up Service Hours
Lead Up is the Leadership component of Raise the Grade, where kids are eligible to volunteer in their community for service hours. In turn, they also receive training about issues that impact their lives directly - digital and financial literacy, career choices, and leadership workshops.
-
Information sessions
Visits from professors, university/college students, and professionals who provide insight about careers and how to get the most out of one's post-secondary experience.

Volunteer tutors needed!
We need help with high school academics specifically in math, sciences and French, etc. Volunteers are involved in tutoring students in academic subjects, and, if interested will take part in acting as technical resources, who have a sound knowledge of computers, and high school subjects. Volunteers will be paired with students seeking academic support in subjects the volunteers are comfortable with.
