Ames Family Foundation and Ames Tile & Stone – North Burnaby Club Champion

Ames Tile & Stone was founded as a small agency business in 1912 (as Ames Bros. Distributors Ltd.) by Cyril Ames and his brother David. The partnership between the brothers lasted less than two weeks, but the company has lived on for over 100 years and has evolved and emerged as a leader in the tile and stone industry. Throughout their history, the Ames family have committed to their belief that local businesses should participate in the communities they work in.

From 1944-45, Cyril Ames served as Chair of the Boys Club board, spawning the enduring relationship with the Ames family that continues today. The late John Ames continued the tradition of building community engagement into the business, and the direct connection to Boys and Girls Clubs. John himself was always the first to roll up his sleeves at a Breakfast with Santa or invite his friends to the Club House Gala to catch the BGC spirit. Most recently, The Ames Family Foundation and Ames Tile & Stone made the generous commitment to be the North Burnaby Boys and Girls Club Champion. John and Cyril’s work is now continuing through the Ames family members, and the team at Ames Tile & Stone who can be regularly found in the Club leading arts and crafts activities, dodgeball or building haunted houses. The legacy: providing kids all across the South Coast of BC with a place to truly belong.
