At BGC, we offer two government funded hybrid (online/in-person) employment programs that help youth living in the Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD) enter or re-enter the Canadian workforce.

Each program has slightly different criteria, so please make sure you check your eligibility before applying.

EMPLOYMENT NOW

Are you aged 16 to 29 and need to find work?

Have you faced a mental health challenge?

Our FREE program helps you get hired!

Program outline: A FREE program of up to 6 weeks of group-based workshops and training, job opportunities in Customer Service / Retail Sales / Hospitality or Office Administration / Clerical work, followed by 3 months of one-on-one Job Coaching support.

  • Receive a cash completion bonus of $300 once you finish the training, plus additional cash bonuses for getting and keeping a job
  • Design a resume and cover letter that gets noticed by employers
  • Master the secrets of successful job interviews resulting in more and better job offers
  • Continue to meet one-on-one with our professionally trained staff to improve your results
  • Get hands-on experience by accessing on-the-job training with our employer partners
  • Support to address barriers to employment and connect to services in your community
  • Financial supports for transportation, clothing and footwear to have you looking your best!

YOUTH WORKS

Please note: BGC’s three-year YOUTH WORKS program recently ended on March 2024.

We were very successful in delivering the program, providing support and assistance to participants in finding and maintaining employment, as well as assisting them in in their quest to return to school for further training.

As of May 2024 we are still awaiting news on further potential funding from the federal government for a new and improved employment program for youth and young adults aged 15-30.

Program outline: 2 weeks of online group-based workshops and certificate training followed by 3 months of one-on-one Job Coaching support.

  • Virtual workshops covering Customer Service / Retail Sales or Office Admin / Clerical
  • Includes topics like interview techniques, resume & cover letter preparation and job search skills
  • Industry specific online training
  • Up to 3 months of virtual one-to-one support after the workshops end
  • Financial supports for transportation, clothing and footwear to have you looking your best!

YOUTH WORKS

For youth aged 15-30

Program outline: 4 weeks of online group-based workshops and certificate training followed by a 6-week work experience placement with a local employer! You are $PAID an hourly wage while attending the workshops as well as during the placement!

  • Virtual workshops including: interview skills, resume & cover letter preparation and a variety of topic to help you find and keep a job
  • Short-term certification training to get noticed by employers
  • Ongoing one-on-one support to achieve your employment goals
  • $$$ Completion bonus available $$$
