For over 85 years, BGC has been giving thousands of kids a place to belong in their neighbourhoods across the Lower Mainland. Our Clubs open their doors to kids and youth when they aren’t at home or at school, where our trained staff provide programs that help them realize positive outcomes in self-expression, academics, healthy living, physical activity, leadership and SO much more.
But for us, it isn’t enough to SAY that kids and youth are working towards these outcomes, or to HOPE that that our Clubs are having a positive impact. So instead, we developed the Learning and Impact Project, an in-depth evaluation that includes qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys. This report helps us not only prove our intended impact but will help us improve upon the impact that we want to have in the lives of kids and youth.
Now, let’s get to it! Here’s what kids and youth shared with us:

That’s pretty exciting to hear! We hope as a friend and supporter of BGC, you feel proud of aaaall this impact, just like we do!

Our very own President & CEO, Carolyn Tuckwell, received the BGC Canada Visionary Award, recognizing her hard work bringing this to life. Here’s what they had to say:
“Our Visionary Award is a national honour recognizing individuals whose leadership has made a profound and lasting impact on children, youth, and the BGC movement.
Carolyn, CEO of BGC South Coast BC, was the driving force behind how we measure impact by implementing Project Impact at her Club.
She recognized the potential of this approach and secured funding to expand the project to BGC Canada. Our Learning and Impact Project has transformed the way BGC Clubs communicate their outcomes, proving and improving the Clubs’ impact on young people across the country.”
As we open our doors to kids and youth across the Lower Mainland this school year, we are SO excited to share all of this impact with you!
