As “grown-ups” we know the answer to that question is NO!
Not only are summer vacations great to look forward to, they also take planning. So, you won’t be surprised to hear that at BGC we’re well on our way with planning for our 2023 Camp Potlatch season! What makes us extra happy is that we had an AMAZING “reopening” last summer after a 2 year pandemic hiatus. So, while it might seem early to be talking to you about summer – we know there are a lot of kids and youth who are already looking forward to their next visit to Camp Potlatch. The true cost for one week at Camp Potlatch is $1,250 per camper, and at BGC we believe that every kid who wants to go to camp should get to go. If you want to be part of providing the best summer ever, you can send one (or many) campers to Camp Potlatch by clicking here.
Each summer, BGC’s Camp Potlatch welcomes over a thousand campers for a BGC style home-away-from-home wilderness adventure. Camp Potlatch provides traditional camp activities, but behind all that is our goal of building a sense of community, self-confidence, and resiliency in each and every one of our campers.
Our 2022 Camp Potlatch season was also a moment for our organization’s resiliency to shine, and honestly, it felt a bit like a triumphant return. After a pandemic hiatus we started last year’s season almost entirely from scratch with a new staff team. Typically, we have a high return rate of staff year after year, plus a healthy contingent of former campers joining us as staff. We wondered (i.e., worried): Would they have that Camp Potlatch magic? Would they be up for the mix of tradition, policy, and tolerance for being mostly off the grid? Would they get it? Thankfully, the experiences of our campers confirmed the staff had all those things, in spades.
As we prepare to open our cabin doors again this summer, we invite you to make a gift that will support the adventure and magic that happens at Camp Potlatch for each and every kid and youth looking forward to their time at their home-away-from-home!
