Our Impact
Measuring our impact
For over 85 years, BGC has been giving thousands of kids a place to belong in their neighbourhoods across the Lower Mainland. Our Clubs open their doors to kids and youth when they aren’t at home or at school, where our trained staff provide programs that help them realize positive outcomes in self-expression, academics, healthy living, physical activity, leadership and SO much more.
But for us, it isn’t enough to SAY that kids and youth are working towards these outcomes, or to HOPE that that our Clubs are having a positive impact. So instead, we developed the Learning and Impact Project, an in-depth evaluation that includes qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys. This report helps us not only prove our intended impact but will help us improve upon the impact that we want to have in the lives of kids and youth.
when kids come to club, what they are really doing is working towards four vital outcomes that help them grow into thriving adults
inspired leaders
Kids and youth learn how to be leaders and have a positive influence on others, building skills for cooperation, self-regulation, confidence, and taking initiative.
Lifelong learners
Kids and youth experience educational success, develop curiosity and creative expressions, and learn how to challenge themselves and achieve goals.
Positive Relationships
Kids and youth have enhanced connection to community, interpersonal skills, sense of belonging, and acceptance of self and others.
Sustained Wellbeing
Kids and youth make healthy choices about nutrition and physical activity, and have increased positive outlook and resilience.

Because of their Club, BGC kids and youth say they...

Our secret to unbelievable impact is frequency, intensity, and duration. Simply put, when kids spend MORE time at Club for MORE of their childhoods, the impact that Club has on their lives is.. you guessed it.. MORE!
